ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Eardley Lieversz is an old Royalist who captained his school team to victory in the 1969 Royal-Thomian. But prior to obtaining his school colours he represented the Colts in its Daily News team. He was in Colts teams that won an Invitation trophy in 1966 and took out the Donovan Andree trophy in 1972.

Eardley’s uncle Douglas Lieversz was President of the Colts from 1962 to 1969 and his cousin Darrell all but took the club over the line in the 1962 -63 Sara season. Hence, the pull of the club was irresistible. His father returned to the club in 1963 and at the same time Eardley built up a strong and indissoluble identification with the club and its players and personalities.

Eardley is a voracious writer, reader and an amateur historian. He is currently involved in seven writing projects which are at varying stages of gestation.

When he isn’t reading or writing, Eardley cycles and dances. He has done eight cycle tours, seven of them unsupported, across Oz, and hasn’t finished yet. He and his wife Karen are passionate social dancers, with rock ‘n’ roll and jive being their specialities.
